Happy Holidays! It has been a wild ride of a year, with amazing achievements and terrible tragedies one after another, all over the map. And yet, here we are, at the end of it. We’re getting ready to welcome 2023 and it seems that perhaps the long-anticipated bottom of the bear market has come within reach. Thus, in a spirit of celebration, this document will announce and explain the EpicDylan 2022 Holiday Airdrop.

First of all, what’s the deal with this drop? It kind of blew up out of nowhere, surprising no one more than it surprised me. Here’s the story of the story, the first of its kind in my life. What makes this story special is the sheer humanity of it; not only was it inspired by some of my favorite people but it was written to suit an extremely specific niche, which represents a bit of a resolution of one of the biggest problems for me in fiction writing: how to interface with my culture at a broader level without getting lost along the way. I’ll explain.

It started here:

I thought 7 likes was pretty good, but then I got a look at the Google Form, and saw over 6,500 responses! Pretty good. I knew right then that I’d have to do something extra special for this drop. Initially, I thought about dropping the article I recently put out, reviewing a book called Dopamine Nation, which helped me understand the massive damage that happened to my brain and how to begin to try to recover from the trauma of 2022. It seemed a bit sentimental, and perhaps too heavy, though, so I’ll be offering the article here on Medium and on Readme Books to purchase and/or read.

Going into my family’s Christmas get-together, I still didn’t have an excellent piece of content to give to all of these eager supporters of my work, however — so I talked to my family about it. And my youngest family member had a suggestion that was too good to pass up, a silly and fun Santa…
