Hope Only Goes So Far

If you want to know how insufferable being a Detroit Lions fan is, consider this: at eight years-old, my peers and I were already numb to the franchise’ ineptitude. At a baseball practice in third…

Reminiscing Happiness

It is true we look happy when we smile. But happiness just doesn't mean a smile or a laughter. It is beyond a facial expression or a societal expectation.

Have we ever wondered how kids remain happy most of the time?

As we grow we forget the feeling of being happy. It starts from teenage where the emotional turmoil begins, adulthood where marathon for money starts, marriage where the juggling of responsibility takes a toll! In all these passing years our age and wisdom grows but true meaning of happiness gets lost with time.

Happiness can be best understood and relived by watching a toddler.

Kids can never sit idle, they always want to do something. So what best can be understood from that is keep yourself busy. An idle mind is a devil’s workshop!

Kids are always inquisitive. They have a thirst of knowledge and an appetite for answers.Inquisitive minds are always learning and active. There is no period listlessness or dullness.

All work no play makes jack a dull boy. An old but relevant saying. Sometimes having a playful mind brings liveliness in everyone's life.

Emotions are contagious. We get carried away by the emotions of people around.

Kids like to fiddle with things around. They feel things with all their sense organs. They don’t care for perfection or the mess in their exploration stage. Sometimes we get so lost in striving for perfection that we forget our reasons for such perfection.
Our busy schedules compel us to multitask. Like watching TV while eating food, reading while in toilet, looking at mobile while out for dinner, enjoying the weather and simultaneously taking pictures. In this multitasking era we are actually underplaying our sense organs - tasting and smelling the food, feeling the rain, hearing the unsaid words, having an eye contact while out with loved one. Sense organs seem to have lost their importance. It’s like salt, presence doesn’t matter but absence spoils the taste!

We teach kids not to talk to strangers, we teach them good and bad. But are they really fixated at good and bad. All this is very momentary for them. A scolding, a fight is all temporary. They don’t hold grudges against anyone, they know how to forget and forgive fast. They are so positive that their wrong actions also doesn’t bring hatred.

Kids find happiness in small things like an outing to park, a small candy, a tight hug. Sometimes big things don’t bring us happiness but small small things does.

Have we ever observed kids taking frequent trips to kitchen to drink water. It’s a well researched topic where there is a direct link between drinking water and happiness. Water brings us happiness.

None of us were born walkers. We all were perseverant to take our first step. So why not now?

Find happiness within yourself and in your surroundings and not search for it
