Super Star

It was November 15th, my best friend’s birthday. I woke from sleep and took my mobile to send her birthday wishes.

Later took a cup of coffee and switched on the TV.

I saw the news on TV9 that Superstar Krishna had passed away. I became sad and immediately sent the message to my close family members.

Then I got glued to the TV to see the exclusive news. I could not switch off the TV the whole day.

I became emotional and started crying like hell. Then I watched all programs and interviews related to Krishna.

It was inspirational that I completed the long pending tasks the same day.

I am not related to Superstar Krishna, nor have I met him personally, but what made me cry so much?

I thought for a while. Then I realized that I was missing my parents. I could connect the songs with my childhood days and my parents. During our childhood, he was one of the mainstream heroes. I watched most of his movies on TV on Saturday and Sunday.

I felt nostalgic and took a trip down memory lane.

In those days, cinema was a popular form of entertainment.

Some of his songs were played wherever we went on any occasion or festival. During the Ganesh festival, we are used to loudspeakers playing his songs continuously.

The organizers of a Ganesh Mandal would bring projectors and organize a film screening on the streets during the festival. People would turn up in large numbers and bring mats to sit on.

Now, I understand and relate to what it means to be an orphan after losing a parent.

If we had a time machine and travel back in time, I would like to hug my parents and tell them how much I love them and miss them. We don’t value what we have until it is gone.

Death is inevitable for everyone. We must understand and bounce back for other family members who depend on us.
