Positive Reflection

Life has a way of presenting us with moments that make us think differently and inspire us. One such moment occurred during a discussion with my fellows. We were sharing our dreams when one of them bravely shared her suppressed dream of becoming an engineer, hindered by gender biases in her small town. This revelation had a strong impact on me.

In that conversation, I realized how fortunate I was to have the opportunity to pursue my own dreams. It made me appreciate the blessings I had received and reminded me not to take them for granted. The incident also made me question the societal norms that can hold us back and limit our potential. It was a reminder of the importance of being grateful for the opportunities we have and making the most of them.

Moreover, the energy and stories shared by my fellow fellows influenced my realization. Witnessing her courage and determination despite facing obstacles inspired me. It made me value empathy and support for one another, recognizing the power of collective experiences and perspectives in shaping our understanding of the world.

Looking back on that impactful moment, I am grateful for the wake-up call it provided. It shifted my perspective on the challenges I faced in my own engineering journey. Instead of complaining, I decided to give my best in everything I do. I wanted to be a successful engineer not only for myself but also to inspire others who face similar barriers.

In hindsight, I would have approached my engineering journey with more appreciation from the beginning. Rather than focusing on the difficulties, I would have cherished the privilege of pursuing my passion. I would have actively supported and uplifted others, recognizing the importance of breaking down barriers and challenging stereotypes.

Life’s impactful moments have a way of reshaping our perspectives and motivating us to become better versions of ourselves. The revelation of a fellow student’s unfulfilled dream made me appreciate the opportunities I had been given and sparked a shift in my thinking. It emphasized the importance of gratitude and seizing opportunities. I hope we can all learn to appreciate our own dreams and inspire others to break free from societal constraints, encouraging them to pursue their aspirations with determination and resilience.
