dr Ram Malkani, Specialist in Dermatology at Jaslok Hospital, spoke about some healthy habits to follow to deal with acne.

“First, it is important to understand the cause of acne. Acne occurs due to the blockage of the duct of the sebaceous glands. The males activate the sebaceous glands hormoneTestosterone, which is released during puberty — when a boy becomes a man and a girl becomes a woman,” he explained.

According to him, there are several ways you can help your skin not break out. “Washing your face twice a day is a must. Use a mild toner. Be sure to maintain your weight and check it thyroid in girls,” he said.

Speaking about the myths surrounding this topic, he urged people not to fall victim to them. He said: “Face scales don’t always cause acne, and chocolate doesn’t always cause acne either. Everything (like chocolates) should be eaten and enjoyed in moderation.”

He also spoke about the importance of gut health. “Make sure you’re not constipated. Eat papaya, banana and leafy greens.” he explained.
